What is sleep apnea
Sleep apnea is a serious condition that’s about far more than just snoring loudly. It’s a chronic issue that disrupts sleep, to the point where breathing can stop temporarily!
This debilitating, dangerous and even life-threatening condition has a multitude of ramifications. It starts with a prolonged lack of sleep, which can lead to loss of productivity at work or school, as well as to other health issues. Such extended conditions include weight gain, loss of memory or dementia, diabetes, breathing difficulty, heart disease, irregular heartbeat, heart failure or heart attack. As such, proper treatment is necessary, the sooner the better.
Besides snoring, there are other signs of sleep apnea:
- Feeling lethargic, lacking energy
- Sleepiness in the daytime
- Inability to focus or remember things
- Headaches, including prolonged migraines
- Insomnia (ironically cruel but true)
- Brain Fog
- Sleep Problems
